Signal No. 1 raised in some parts of Northern and Eastern Samar
On 11 am of May 13 (Wednesday), PAGASA raised Signal No. 1 to Northern Samar, Northern portions of Samar, and Eastern Samar as Ambo develops into a Trophical Cyclone and is expected to intensify as it approaches the Eastern Visayas – Bicol Region area.
Northern parts of Samar under signal no. 1 includes: Calbayog, Sta. Margarita, Gandara, Matuguinao, Pagsanghan, San Jorge, San Jose De Buan, Tarangnan, Catbalogan City, Jiabong, Motiong, San Sabastian, Paranas, and Hinabangan.
The trophical storm is currently located 360 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.
By tomorrow afternoon PAGASA said that, “strong to near-gale winds associated with thunderstorms will begin affecting the areas under signal no. 1.”
As of today, light to moderate and even heavy rainstorms while thunderstorm occurs are to be expected in the areas of Eastern Visayas.
Residents in the areas of Eastern Visayas, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate are advised to take precautionary measures and keep themselves updated on the weather as moderate to heavy rains are expected on Thursday (May 14).
PAGASA also warns that sea travels are risky because seas will be rough over the seaboards of affected areas in the Northern and Eastern Samar, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas.
Sorsogon may also be raised to Signal no. 1 in the next bulletin.
Flooding and landslides can occur to places that seems vulnerable to heavy rains during a long period of time.
The estimated landfall of Trophical Storm Ambo is found in the Bicol Region by tomorrow night until Friday morning.
