M5.4 earthquake shakes Occidental Mindoro, also felt in Metro Manila
A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Occidental Mindoro at 3.18 a.m. on Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
According to PHIVOLCS, it was a magnitude 5.4 undersea earthquake, at a depth of 76 kilometers.
The epicenter of the quake was northeast of Luban, Occidental Mindoro.
PHIVOLCS initially measured the quake at M5.5 before downgrading to M5.4.
The PHIVOLCS said that Intensity IV was recorded in Makati City; Manila; Paranaque. While Intensity III was felt in Malabon; Mandaluyong; Pasay; Quezon City; Tagaytay; Cavite; Calapan; Puerto Galera; Lipa City, Batangas.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) meanwhile recorded the earthquake at M5.3.
Aftershocks are expected, PHIVOLCS stated.
