DepEd to give teachers P3,500 cash allowance in June
The Department of Education (DepEd) on Jun is set to release cash allowance worth P3,500 for teachers.
According to a department memorandum dated May 4 and signed by Undersecretary for Finance Annalyn Sevilla that the allowance will be used by teachers to purchase teaching materials and supplies for the upcoming school year.
In the memorandum, the DepEd Central Office will also release “separate policy guidelines” that will allow teachers to use the allowance on “teaching supplies and materials related to the preparations to shift to the Learning Continuity Plan (LCP).”
The LCP is a set of guidelines made in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
It details adjustments to the K-12 curriculum, the various modes of learning that schools will implement next school year, and homeschooling training for teachers, parents, and guardians.
Earlier, DepEd said public school teachers will begin working in June to prepare for the upcoming school year, which is scheduled to open on Aug. 24.
