Department of Agriculture launches digital marketing app, ‘eKadiwa’

The new digital marketing app links farm producers to consumers amid the extended enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus disease.

DA Secretary William Dar said in his speech that during this difficult time, the people in the government must undertake innovative strategies to provide easier and safer ways for our farmers, fishers, and agripreneurs to sell their products and for consumers to access them from the comfort and safety of their homes.

Dar signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA) with agripreneurs AgriNurture Inc. (ANI), Zagana Inc., Benjabi Ventures Corp., and Mober Inc.

The eKadiwa website will be available initially via DA website with the URL eKadiwa.da


He added that soon they will make eKadiwa more accessible through a stand-alone application that users can download and use on their mobile devices.

The agreement includes agripreneurs who will be allowed to sell various agriculture products, including vegetables, rice, and fruits at the suggested retail prices of these products.

According to DA, there are already 12,000 farmers benefiting from its new online program, which it had activated to help the agricultural sector and consumers cope with the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He added, that these new digital transformation and automation of the agency are increasingly becoming part of the ‘new normal.’
