Typhoon Ursula expected to bring heavy rain at Christmas
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued an advisory to Eastern Visayas to be prepared due to heavy rainfall tomorrow, December 25, Christmas Day.The weather station announced that Typhoon Ursula (Phanfone) would continue to bring strong winds and rainfall to parts of Visayan region until Wednesday morning.
After making its landfall in Salcedo, Eastern Samar, at 4:45 p.m., Typhoon Ursula is expected to bring violent winds over most part of Eastern Samar and Biliran. Northern parts of Leyte may also experience strong winds and rainfall.
PAGASA already raised Tropical Cycle Wind Signal No. 3 to areas that will be directly affected by the storm. This includes Northern Samar; Samar; Masbate, including Ticao Islands; Biliran; and Extreme Northern Cebu, including Camotes Island.
Albay, Sorsogon, Romblon, Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Iloilo, and most parts of northern Cebu had been raised to Signal No. 2; Marinduque, southern portion of Quezon, and Mindoro were also included.
Domestic flights and sea travel had also been rescheduled tomorrow in preparation to the storm, causing many passengers to be stranded.
The storm continues to sustain its wind speed of 130 kph, heading West at 31 kph.
